There was something eerily beautiful about this place. A poet or storyteller could write such prose about this – the way a full moon looked lovingly down at the earth, light obscured by a few clouds here and there; the way a tender fog rolled lazily off the still lake and hugged the ground; and the way a gentle breeze made art of its form. But she was no poet.
The wolf could see neither the art nor the lyrics. The beauty of the night slipped past her like a ghost and drove fear into her mind. Fear because the moon’s light could not reach into all the dark and scary crevices. Fear because, was that fog rising? Fear because these lands were a beautiful lie. They were not safe, not welcoming as their faces would lead one to believe; monsters lurked within the depths. Oh, she knew she was not the brightest star in the sky, but even Noelani knew this was not someplace she should be. This was not safe. She knew about the odd ones who roamed these lands, searching for victims. The thought of them terrified her. The free lands were not somewhere one should be roaming alone, especially at night. But it was hard. She had woken in the night. Her mouth was dry, and so the wolf had left her hiding place in search of something to quench her thirst. Pity she had to find this.
Standing at the water’s edge, Noel wasn’t sure she really wanted to drink this. Something smelled...off about this water and it was enough to make her nose screw up. Maybe the smell from that damn forest had managed to leak into the dark depths, or maybe there was something else spoiling it. Whatever it was, Noel was not sure she would be the one brave enough to test it out. So she sighed, licking her lips and staring longingly at the lake. The way the water lapped at the edge of the bank. Loudly. It was teasing her.
Frustrated, Noel flopped down, rolling to lie on her side. She shouldn’t stay here. It was scary. Who knew what lay waiting in the dark corners? But she was tired. She had forgotten the way back to her resting spot and she was too frightened to move through the semi-darkness and try to find somewhere else. The moon’s light just wasn’t enough, even if those clouds were to disperse. Hopefully luck would be on her side tonight and she could just stay here without being bothered, the oddness of the water might be enough to keep others at bay. Hopefully...
Apparently, Noel had done something terrible in a past life. She shot up like a bolt, senses straining to find danger in the dark. Something was there. Something was coming. And she had the feeling it wasn’t going to be too friendly.

Was this land truly fact or was it fable? Did the large body of liquid consist of another substance that could do harm to a being, or did the body of water acquire this name over time due to the oddity of it? Whatever the answer was Vlad was certain he would find out himself, being a creature of odd fascination the male was curious to see if anything else lingered nearby Reveri. The two tails flickered every so often, while his entire posture was that of tranquility. Every now and again birds and such would grow silent when this wolf approached, the darkness he supposed threatened them or the fact he was a true predator. Snickering to himself as he continued deeper toward this lake presumed. Yes one could say it was a small lake, the water certainly not welcoming to consume.
Though just as the male hit the embankment he scented the perfume, he was lured in and turned his skull in her direction and prowled toward her. Grinning wickedly the demon greedily took in her appearance not caring if the female saw or not, than his orange eyes met her bronze ones. Tilting his grand skull his forked tongue slid from his lips to scent her as well as freak this young lady out just a bit. Curious to her reaction, for this wolf was just that a wolf. There were no mutations that he could see, that is unless she held a tongue like his own. Interesting indeed, as the massive male stood before her his muscles shifted underneath his coat. The alabaster hue is truly remarkable with the exception of his multiple scars.
Vladimir wondered how she would react most normals ran in fear of the mutated, those not wishing to be turned that is. Would she be a runner? Possibly she wish to be infected? Or maybe she was simply passing through. He had to admit it was quite bold for a female to be out after night especially in a questionable place such as this. But she had caught his attention now whether she ran or stayed would be the true question. Nostrils flared while he shook his coat lightly, his posture was regal as he watched her continuously. Vladimir's entire focus was upon this female. Eardrums listened carefully hoping catch her movements, because if she did choose to run he would hunt.

Despite already being on alert, Noel couldn’t help the tensing of her muscles from fright as she spotted the wolf. Even from the first glance, he was terrifying – for one, his light hue almost made Noel mistake him for a ghost in the darkness, and for another...he was huge! As he moved closer, she took an involuntary step back, but that was all she could do – frozen to the spot and breath hitched like a deer caught in the headlights. She really wanted to run right now.
The wolf’s grin was quite unnerving, but she couldn’t help but feel slightly indignant at the way his eyes roved over her, without him even saying a word. “Wh-what are you doing here...?”
She was trying to make her voice sound defiant, but there was an audible shake in it and, as the male’s eyes met hers, she dropped her gaze quickly to the ground. It was then that she noticed it. This wolf had two tails. With a sharp intake of breath, Noel raised her eyes back up to his face, just in time to see the flicker of a very odd tongue. It took a while for the rapidly flowing information to break through the jumbled mess that was her mind, but she was finally able to put two and two together, and what she got was the last thing she ever would have wanted. Oh no. This was most definitely not the close encounter she ever wanted to have. Give her a ghost or an alien – anything was better than this! Her mind started screaming at her legs to work, damn it! Thankfully, the message was well-received and it did not take too long for her legs to kick into action. Noel rapidly backed away and, with a high-pitched squeal turned tail and ran as fast as she could in the opposite direction. Her footfalls and breathing were all too loud as she clattered over the tough grass and small shrubbery around the edge of the lake, but she hoped that she could lose that monster in the darkness. Unfortunately, it was hard to see where she was placing her paws on the ground and she was not the most graceful wolf in the first place. Her feet got caught up in one of the small bushes and she fell to ground in a tangle, chin on the ground, behind in the air. Her breathing and heartbeat increased as she worked to right herself, checking over her shoulder for any sign that the beast had followed her. She could only pray he hadn’t. |
